Background
|
Administration prioritized multiple roofing projects to be completed in the summer of 2025 due to the age and poor condition of several existing areas at three buildings. This project was included in the capital plan and was reviewed and recommended by the Board Facilities Committee. The first bid was structured with Base Bid 1 for Washington Elementary School and four (4) Alternates. The second bid was structured as Base Bid 2 for Wheaton Warrenville South High School one (1) Alternate.

Summary:

The bid opening was held on November 21, 2024. Twenty-four (24) contractors picked up the bid package and six (6) responded. Base Bid 1 is for roofing replacement work to be completed at Washington Elementary School. Alternate 1.2 is for new skylights at Washington Elementary School and Alternates 1.3 & 1.4 are for roofing replacement work at Wheaton North High School. Base Bid 2 is for roofing replacement work at Wheaton Warrenville High School. Attached is a letter from Legat Architects containing multiple recommendations. The first recommendation is to accept the withdrawal of the Base Bid 2 submission from DCG Roofing Solutions. During the review process, DCG determined that they had made mistakes when estimating labor and other assumptions related in Base Bid 2. In the same scope review, it was determined that DCG Roofing Solutions was the lowest responsible bidder for Base Bid 1 and Alternates 1.2, 1.3 & 1.4. The total bid submission for these areas is $1,171,967 and this is the second recommendation. The final (3rd) recommendation is for Base Bid 2. Legat has determined that G.E. Riddiford Company, Inc. is the lowest responsible bidder for the work contained in Base Bid 2. The total bid submission for Base Bid 2 is $821,800.00.

It is also recommend that the Board of Education award Base Bid 2 in the amount of $821,800.00 to G.E. Riddiford Company, Inc. of Arlington Heights, Illinois.
